Student training
Working pupils have successfully trained at Easington for the last
thirty years with exam passes at all levels

Riding instruction is of a high standard and riders with their own horses are encouraged to compete in dressage and jumping competitions.
For younger students courses can combine with Bishop Burton college to take NVQ exams alongside the BHS training at Easington
Exams can include horse owners certificates, riding or stable management stages. road safety, stud assistant or teaching.

Students start at different levels and also progress at different speeds so there is no set time for the length of each course,
although experienced riders with a basic knowledge of horse care should have no difficulty passing stage
one and being well in line for stage two within six months.
You can follow the stable management path up to stage 4 level  or can take riding and horse care exams together.

Intensive courses as a paying student are available for the more experienced rider who wants to fast track onto the examination ladder.
As a working student at Easington or on a combined course with the college you will receive full training, full board and an allowance.
Working hours are 7.30a.m. - 5.30pm   5 days p.w. with evening duties one evening per week to assist with lessons etc.

Part time training
Training courses for BHS stages and prelim teaching can be taken on a part time basis
Training covers riding and the care of the horse to a level above the examination requirement.
This course is also suitable for the first time horse owner or anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of riding and/or stable management.
Non Riders can take the care section only

Training covers riding on the flat and over poles, sensible hacking and the riding and road safety qualification.   This section also covers the handling of the horse from the ground and the checking and use of suitable and safe tack. General safety rules for riding in the indoor school and riding in company.

Care covers  practical tasks of grooming, bandages, rugs. Checking the horse for health and presenting the horse for treatment by the vet or for maintenance care such as shoeing, worming, trimming, injections etc. Grassland management, stable hygiene and basic first aid
Theory discussions and study are used to increase the students overall knowledge of horses

The length of the course is open as all students are treated as individuals as both the standard and the time available varies.  Some home study can be undertaken and advice and a structured program is available.

Each session is payable in advance.
